A Single Form sculpture

A Single Form Sculpture - GardenRoomStyle

A Single Form sculpture. Dedicated to Dag Hammarskjöld by Barbara Hepworth in 1961-62. To be found, normally, in Battersea park London. During the autumn of 2022 it was on loan to a foreign museum. Perhaps it’s happened before? Been walking past this piece of bronze art a number of times. There’s something very fetching about it. Like the peephole feature, suggesting a second dimension beyond the otherwise ultrasolid work. This Single Form version was granted a Grade II listing in 2016. Head over to New York – outside the United Nations Headquarters and you will find a mightier copy displayed since 1964. Didn’t realise this until writing this post. Never too late to learn about fascinating public space art.
