Cobblestones amidst the blooms.

It’s mid-July. Them flowers and other greenery are looking spectacular. So much that the rest of the garden falls into oblivion. Now thinking of bagatelles such as hard surfaces. Who cares about, for example, cobblestones amidst the blooms? Well, as a person interested in garden design, I do. A garden is so much more than wonderful vegetation. It’s like a bag of all sorts. Many functions need to fit in. And they would be difficult to do so if there were no hard surfaces.

Where I live cobblestones are frequently used. In public green spaces as well as private gardens. Cobblestones in the former became common in the mid-19th century. I’m not really a fan of cobblestones to be honest. Or should I say “didn’t used to be a fan?”. If you like high heels, they are not your best friend. Never will be, unless of course you are using wedges. But I find it quite extraordinary the range of pattern and effect you can achieve with a simple cube. Just check these photos out!

I love this look! Smooth surface and straight lines – very modern and sleek.
