To dare or not to dare the graffiti/plant combo?! It’s a bold statement, but the impact is just WOW. In some cases at least. In my mind there are two types of graffiti and to keep it simple, they are spelt good or bad. The bad we all know about, it’s everywhere and particularly in places where it should NOT be. Where it’s an eyesore and a liability to property owners. Then, much more rare, are the extraordinary works of art that can spotted if you’re lucky. These are the ones that I find inspirational, that I would like to see more of. In or outside of green space areas.

That would perhaps not include your own private garden. Bit OTT for that. Actually came across a website with plenty of advise for those wanting to use plants to deter graffiti. It reckons that “climbing trees and shrubs at the base of walls are a super solution — inexpensive, easy to maintain, and environmentally friendly to boot. Already existing graffiti can, of course, also be covered.” There are further elaborations available on the site.

But let’s focus on the good. Just check out the above picture, the thumbnails shown depict really outstanding art. It would make me happy to walk past these scenes over and over. Well done to youse responsible! Using the real deal plants as key ingredient is such a great idea. Having said that, I imagine that those graffiti opportunities can’t be that easy to locate … Still, what I’m trying to say here is that good “blooming” street art is uplifting and an asset. Let’s have more of it! Just check out the facade below as an example. Rather daring property owner permitting it…
