Green space sculpture.

Green space and sculpture goes back a long time. In the Western world the Greeks were the first to use statuary for garden ornaments. Marble likenesses of heroes and gods decorated academy, gymnasium, and sanctuary gardens. Followed did the Romans, Renaissance Italy, the French, the rest of the world basically. So many heroes and gods, not easy to keep up with the details, but it’s not difficult to comprehend the beauty of many sculptures.

I like the idea of green spaces and sculpture. Heroes and gods are perhaps in this day and age somewhat outdated. Move in modern world. I recently mentioned art displayed at Chelsea Barracks, current as it comes.

Another interesting initiative is Sculpture in the Square organised by Christie’s London. The square in question is the St James’s Square and to be honest I’m note sure if it’s still running. But in 2018 it did. And that’s when I found these beauties.
