  1. Dolce & Gabbana launched their first Home Collection last year. These planters were part of the Carretto Siciliano collection (display only?). To me this is an Italian folklore design meets traditional tile azulejo motifs. The planters look fantastic …. in the right spot ….
  2. This is a scene from Francis Kéré’s timber pavilion @ Tippet Rise Art Center in Montana, USA. The pavilion is entitled ‘Xylem’ and has an all sorts purpose; seating area, conversation starter, craftsman appreciation. Take your pick. It’s inspired by wooden togunas in Mali, but constructed from local wood by local craftsmen.
  3. To me there currently seems to be two design paths to stride down when choosing swimming pool design. The one we are all most familiar with and then the “natural pond” look. This style here looks like a crossover. Very familiar design but the way the pools are set amidst the rocks they look like natural rock pools. With some vivid imagination. Stunning.
  4. Outdoor lighting from Artemide. Light is diffused through rods with different heights to give the impression of a reed bed. Designed by Klaus Begasse.
  5. Went to a function the other day when weather was unfortunate. A tent came to the rescue. This version comprising a modular shading structure composed of hexagon shaped tops and support side panels upholstered in fabric from Paola Lenti would benefit any outdoor event.
  6. Babylonstoren is one of the oldest Cape Dutch farms, set at the foot of Simonsberg in the Franschhoek wine valley. It’s now a hospitality venue, which includes a vast garden. There’s also this Greenhouse restaurant. What a wonderful greenhouse in a wonderful setting!
