The vibrancy of those 50 shades of orange. Totally majestic. Plant of the weekStreptosolen jamesonii has a hell of a lot going for it. Blooming like that in late February and all. Really sets the standard of colour palettes to come.

Just want to clarify though. This bloom was found in southern Spain. Where I am normally (read northern Europe) this is an annual bloom. Pretty as for one summer season then gone. What can you say, what can you do? Better a little bit ot this glory than nothing at all?

Aka the Marmelade bush (I ponder why the name??) , this plant likes full sun. In fortunate areas it’s evergreen. Origins are northern South America. There known as the hummingbird flower. It prefers moist, well-drained soil.

On a separate note, found it rather peculiar how the latin name of this plant corresponded vaguely with a soar throat reliefer I just saw advertised on TV. Oh dear. If you live in an unfortunate climate like myself, this plant is only realistic as a container plant. Plant it where its beauty can be viewed all summer long.
