Soaked in garden knowledge.

Out and about on this sunny day in London I decided to pay a quick visit to the RHS Lindley Library located in a majestic Arts and Crafts-style building in Vincent Square. This is since the beginning of the 20th century head office for the Royal Horticultural Society, the UK’s leading gardening charity. Amongst other things responsible for the Chelsea Flower Show, as many of yous would know. The Society has had a library for more than 200 years and holds world-renowned collections of early printed books, the archives of the RHS, botanical art collections and modern books on the history of horticulture, botanical art and practical gardening. If you want to get soaked in garden knowledge, this is the place to come.

I would like to emphasise the modern aspect of the Library and its accessibility. If you are nearby why not just pop in and browse books and publications? Around 5,000 people visit each year, so you won’t be alone. Whilst there you could not help but being impressed by the majestic mosaic floor seen in the pics. The motif showing the society’s apple tree device and the heraldic flowers of the UK is the first thing that greets you. Not a bad welcome I would say!
