Modern 1970s vibe moodboard – w12/2023

The primary purpose with this blog is to post about various aspects of garden design. However, I also have an interest in interior design. A weak spot is the 1970s, the style from that era rocks pretty hard. Colours, shapes, patterns, bring on more of everything! Today you’ve got to be pretty daring to copy that style all inclusive. But why not consider slight touches? Here’s a Modern 1970s vibe Moodboard – w12/2023 to inspire.

  1. This kitchen incorporates wood and orange, two key interior design ingredients in the 1970s. Here featured very tastefully and sleek. Unugu kitchen by Wood Works Brighton.
  2. The tubular steel chairs, the large plants, the paper lantern and the muted, earthy mustard feature wall. All were part of the 1970s scene, but here put together to give a modern impression. Image seen on housebeautiful.com.
  3. Adding a large plant is an easy way to get a 1970s grove. Indoor plants were hugely popular during that decade. As were animal prints, zebra in particular, velvet upholstered furniture, a cool floor/table lamp and dark walls. Image found on thespruce.com.
  4. Green colour could be seen high and low. Frequently it was found in the kitchen, on cabinet doors, walls and textiles. In this modern interpretation the floor is green, nicely accentuating the wooden cabinets (also a 1970s feature). Well done! Image found on vogue.com.
  5. I really like this kitchen. The wooden cabinets and the flooring speak a very loud 1970s lingo. But this is offset by a supersleak, minimalistic sink and worktop area. Nice! Image seen on dezeen.com.
